We need your help to manage and mitigate S. Dublin
Background
A recent study using historic laboratory date from the Animal Health Center (AHC) found that herd management practices are likely the most important risk factor for S. Dublin infection. To investigate this further we are starting a survey based study that will determine what herd management practices are the most effective at preventing S. Dublin infections and what practices result in increased risk.
Responses from this survey will be 100% confidential with information being compiled into an anonymized data set for analysis. Results will be used to create a BC specific Risk Assessment tool that will be given for free to all producers and herd health veterinarians. Our tools accuracy is dependent on participation from producers throughout British Columbia. Please help us create the most effective tool to manage and mitigate this disease.

Calf Rearing
Raising calves and heifers is an important component to ensuring the future of your herd. An abundance of research has shown what practices are important to a successful calf and heifer rearing program. However, little is known to what extent these practices are being applied on commercial dairy farms and what tools are being used to measure calf performance in commercial settings. We are looking to use this survey as an opportunity to better understand the rearing practices associated with weaning (e.g., milk feeding practices, weaning protocol and housing style) and the methods used to measure calf and heifer performance on dairy farms in British Columbia.
